Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is an allied health profession focused on the assessment, diagnosis, and management of musculoskeletal conditions, particularly those affecting the spine, joints, and nervous system. Chiropractors use evidence-based manual therapies, rehabilitation exercises, and lifestyle advice to reduce pain, restore function, and support overall physical wellbeing.

There are three types of proactive care that chiropractors can help workers stay injury free and productive at work. These proactive approaches are: Preventative, maintenance, and wellness chiropractic care. Each play a valuable role in supporting a healthy and productive workforce by treating the day-to-day workplace body stressors that can develop into musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Preventative care focuses on identifying and correcting early movement dysfunction, spinal joint restrictions or postural muscle imbalances before it develops into injury. Maintenance care provides ongoing support for workers who have experienced previous musculoskeletal issues, helping reduce flare-ups, managing symptoms and sustain functional capacity. Wellness care takes a broader approach by optimising spinal health, mobility, and overall physical resilience, even when no pain is present. Chiropractic care can help with:

  • Lower back pain and stiffness
  • Neck pain and stiffness
  • Headaches, including tension-type and some cervicogenic headaches
  • Shoulder pain and rotator cuff issues
  • Mid-back (thoracic) discomfort
  • Sciatica and nerve-related leg pain
  • Hip, knee, and ankle pain
  • Work-related postural muscle strains (e.g., desk work or repetitive tasks)
  • Sports injuries and joint sprains
  • Muscle tightness and reduced mobility
  • Repetitive strain injuries (RSI)

Seated Massage Chair - Spinal and Musculoskeletal Wellness Screens

Screening the spine and surrounding muscles is a relaxational therapy using a combination of soft tissue therapy, muscle trigger point therapy, and gentle spinal joint mobilisations to reduce tension, improve mobility, and support overall musculoskeletal function. This is a great option for workers who have never had chiropractic treatment or prefer relaxational wellness time.

Ergonomic Assessments

An ergonomic assessment is a structured evaluation of a worker’s workstation, tasks, and movement patterns to identify physical stressors that may contribute to musculoskeletal strain or injury. It aims to optimise posture, equipment setup, and work habits to improve comfort, reduce injury risk, and enhance productivity.

Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractic adjustments are a specific force in a precise direction, applied skilfully to a spinal joint that is fixated, “locked up,” or not moving as it should. This helps improve or restore motion and reduce pain to the affected joint.

Joint Mobilisations

Are a manual therapy technique that applies gentle, passive movements to a joint to reduce pain, increase mobility, and restore normal joint function.

Dry Needling Therapy

Dry needling therapy is a therapeutic technique that involves inserting thin, solid needles into or near myofascial trigger points—tender, knotted areas in muscles that can cause pain and restrict movement. The needles stimulate the muscles, causing them to contract or twitch, which helps relieve pain and improve range of motion.

Gua Sha/Muscle Scraping Therapy

Gua Sha therapy is an instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation that uses stainless steel tools to identify and break down scar tissue adhesions, fascial restrictions and trigger points (muscle knots). The therapy increases range of motion, reduces pain, promoting soft tissue healing for acute and chronic conditions.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is an ancient healing technique where special cups are placed on the skin to create suction. This suction can help relieve pain, reduce muscle tension, inflammation, and improve overall well-being.

Dynamic Taping Therapy

Dynamic taping uses elastic, flexible tape applied to the skin to support muscles and joints without restricting natural movement. It is designed to improve circulation, reduce swelling, relieve pain, and enhance muscle function during activity and recovery.

Rigid Sports Taping Therapy

Rigid taping uses firm, non-elastic tape to stabilise and support joints by limiting excessive or harmful movement. It helps protect injured areas, reduce strain on muscles and ligaments, and lower the risk of re-injury during physical activity or work tasks.

Trigger Point and Soft Tissue Therapy

Trigger point and soft tissue therapy are a hands-on treatment that targets tight, sensitive areas within muscles known as trigger points (muscle knots), which can cause localised pain and referred discomfort in other parts of the body. By applying sustained pressure and specific manual techniques, the therapy helps release muscle tension, improve circulation, and restore normal movement and function.

Rehabilitation Exercises (Stretching and Strengthening)

Rehabilitation exercises are structured movements designed to restore strength, flexibility, stability, and coordination following injury or physical strain. These exercises help support recovery, improve functional movement, and reduce the risk of future musculoskeletal problems by strengthening or stretching the body and correcting movement patterns.

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) Therapy

TENS therapy is a method of pain relief that uses low-voltage electrical currents to stimulate nerves by placing small electrodes on the skin in the area where you feel pain.

Manual Handling Education

Manual handling education teaches workers how to move and handle loads safely using proper body mechanics. By improving movement awareness and lifting habits, this education can help lower the risk of injury, reduce musculoskeletal stress, and support a safer, more productive workplace.

Spinal and Extremity X-ray Referrals

Spinal and extremity X-rays are diagnostic imaging tools used to assess the structure and alignment of the spine and peripheral joints such as the shoulders, hips, knees, and wrists. They help identify issues such as joint degeneration, postural changes, fractures, or other structural abnormalities that may be contributing to pain or dysfunction. By providing a clearer understanding of these underlying factors, X-rays support more accurate diagnosis and allow for more targeted and effective care.
